Cloud Break

When you remember someone special.
____________________________________

It starts at the fingers
A sudden, welcome warmth
Reminding you of spring days
Under the green grass and yellow wheat

The warmth spreads to the arms
As the sky opens
And god’s eye radiates through her iris
Looking over the fields of hay and fire

Soon warmth moves into your chest
Creating a quickening of heart and breath
And the clouds dissipate in her radiance
Giving life to long thought dead flowers

The warmth spreads faster through the whole body
With every smile, every wink, and every word
The field of long dormant seeds burst forth
New life eager to reach toward blue horizons

She brought life back to the dead field of my heart
She brought sun to the cold tundra

She made the clouds break
How lucky for us all.

Moon Rise

The sun dips down below the horizon and darkness swallows the land

I cannot see the trees or the flowers anymore

I cannot feel the warmth of the grass under my feet.

The darkness takes all

Feeds on it

Destroys it

My eyes cannot adjust, and my body shivers

Just as all hope dwindles from the tips of my fingers,

She appears.

The radiant burst of light illuminates the land again

The darkness creeps back defeated by her luminous gaze.

She goes by so many names: Selena, Aylin, Callisto

Yet to me, her name means beautiful in form and countenance

The higher she rises, the more I am in awe

Her beauty full-framed as she speaks to me.

It is not how she looks, it is what she says

It is the smile on her face as she gives her light to the land

Her embrace unsure but alluring

I can see there are none like her as bathe in her light

No more fear or doubt, only an understanding and hope.
